So, Ebby and I took advantage of it. We got out and walked every day. We have a small (very) small lake that we walked to. We saw the heron twice. The first time, Ebby spooked it. I think it spook Ebby, too. Even though she is a Flat Coated Retriever, I believe she is clueless about hunting. The next time, the heron saw us coming and took off. A lot of our neighbors were still cleaning up from Hurricane Gustav. Now we are watching Hurricane Ike. Hope it heads to Texas. (no offense, Texas). Ebby is a rescue dog. She is good about letting us know when someone comes up the driveway. She is good about letting us know when a storm is coming, sometimes even before our weatherman does. The secret is, she is afraid of thunder. The storm may be 20 miles away, but she knows. Ebby is good to have on a walk when you are going up hill. She can pull you up.:) We have a lot of hills in our neighborhood.

I finally got our sidewalk and driveway cleaned off. We didn’t lose any trees but had a lot of branches and leaves down. Rusty and I set out on the deck enjoying the cool weather. Last night we heard a couple of owls. I took Ebby for a walk around the lake. She spooked a blue heron that was on the shore. Where was my camera?? It flew up on the power line. What a shot, that I didn’t get. Mustard Tree will be having there art show at the end of this month. I got to get my two entries frame. Looks like tomorrow will be the day. Stay tune, I will be updating my website with new photos......

I feel like I’m hunkered down, as I write this. We are surrounded by trees and they are blowing..It has rain all day and we have two more days to go. New Orleans was lucky. Some areas were hit pretty hard but at least it was no Katrina. The above photo is a sculpture that you can find throughout the gulf coast that was damage by Katrina. An artist went through and carved different designs from trees that were damaged and were to be torn down. His work is wonderful.

This wall was built by Extreme Home Makeover when they went to the Gulf Coast to help rebuild. The wall is the same height of the water surge that came to shore. Rusty and I were down there earlier this year and we went to Biloxi to see what was being rebuilt. I had seen the show about this wall and we luckily found it. Very awesome, really without any words to describe the feeling standing next to this wall.
Now we are watching Gustav head towards to the Gulf Coast including New Orleans again, just about on the same day Katrina hit, three years ago. It seems so surreal. Our state, along with other states have open their doors to those who are leaving the area. Hopefully, this storm won’t cause so many deaths and destruction.

Can you believe that you can hurt yourself on this thing? Take my word. A couple of weeks ago, after doing my exercise, I was sitting down watching TV, I got up and couldn’t walk on my foot. Rusty had to get my crutches ( from another foot injury). For two days I had to hobble around. It wasn’t swollen or discolored. I had to take a week off from my exercises. I got a support sock for my foot. When I went back to work out, I found the exercise that I think strained my foot. One of those Yoga poses. I’m back on the Wii fit and still have a hard time pacing myself. Your having to much fun!!! The trainer said, “you need to build your core muscles.” I asked Rusty where are your core muscles? I have found them now. OHHH!
But it is an enjoyable way to exercise. Just remember to go slow.
